Release Date, New Map, and Battle Pass for Season 4 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2

Season 4 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is coming soon, with a new map, new Battle Pass rewards, and tons of other updates. The latest large-scale update to the first-person shooter was officially announced with a brief trailer as part of Summer Game Fest’s opening night showcase, with further details revealed afterward. It provided a brief look at some of the new content provided by the upcoming season, as well as an official release date.

Like most seasonal turnovers, this is a massive update, including a variety of new content for players to sink their teeth into. Since Warzone 2’s troubled release, the game has continuously built on its existing formula. Some of its changes have been popular and well-received, while others baffled longtime Call of Duty players. The Season 4 update looks to be a good one, with some clever fixes for common issues and a host of new weapons, vehicles, and Operators that players will certainly want to try out.

As always, the primary change for this new season of Warzone 2.0 comes in the form of a brand-new map: Vondel. Vondel is a modern European city (the name implies it’s Dutch) with historic roots. Players may choose to land near its opulent castle or its sleek train station – both feature grand staircases, and multiple levels of cover.

The city’s soccer stadium should also be a point of interest: it’s decked out for a paintball tournament, so players can stage pitched battles with lots of cover in its enclosed area. Other points of interest on the map include an art museum, a shopping mall, a zoo, a graveyard, and a network of canals. The new map will be available on two of Warzone 2’s main game modes, DMZ and Resurgence, at launch, with Battle Royale support to be added later.

Naturally, with a brand-new season of Warzone comes a brand-new Battle Pass. The Battle Pass in Warzone 2 works somewhat differently from those typical to online multiplayer games; instead of progressing linearly from level to level, players can unlock sectors on a map, giving them a little more choice as to what rewards they get. While the full suite of Battle Pass rewards hasn’t yet been announced, a handful of highlights are already confirmed.
