Final Fantasy 16, a highly anticipated game, made its first appearance on PC with a launch that didn’t meet developers’ expectations. Despite being part of the renowned Final Fantasy franchise, the game’s debut on Steam fell short with only around 17,000 players at its peak.
In comparison, its predecessor Final Fantasy 15 had double the player count with nearly 30,000 individuals (29,498) enjoying the game simultaneously.
These numbers are significantly lower when compared to recent AAA game releases. For instance, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 had at least 225,000 players online concurrently.
On a brighter note, FF16’s launch on PlayStation 5 was much more successful with over 3 million copies sold in just six days.
Fans are optimistic that Square Enix will address performance issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure a better gaming experience for PC players.
