Let us remind you that Steam was launched in September 2003. Initially, the platform was not released as a store, but as a service for more effective distribution of updates for Valve’s games. Only in 2005 did it start distributing games from third-party developers.
It is important to remember that at that time digital distribution was a novelty, and video game enthusiasts, including those on PC, relied entirely on games in physical format. However, Steam gradually gained more significance, not least because it offered game publishers a higher percentage profit compared to sales in stores from the very beginning.
Today, Steam is not only the largest digital store but also a space where the community gathers, friendships are formed, and discoveries are shared.
