Steve Huffman, CEO of Reddit, justifies API modifications in Ask Me Anything session

After facing backlash for the company’s API changes, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman has finally addressed the issue in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) discussion. While promising improvements to Reddit’s own app, Huffman made it clear that the company cannot continue to subsidize commercial entities that require large-scale data use. This has resulted in some of the most-used third-party reddit apps, such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun, and Sync, announcing their closure before the pricing goes into effect.

Although Huffman acknowledged some missteps in the company’s API rollout, he declined to address more complex questions about the company’s handling of its relationship with third-party developers.
