Sony has made the decision to discontinue the Airpeak S1 camera drone, with sales ending on March 31, 2025. Most of the drone’s accessories will also no longer be available after next year, except for replacement batteries and propellers until March 31, 2026. The company will continue to offer inspections, repairs, and software maintenance services until March 31, 2030.
Unveiled during a virtual presentation at CES in 2021, the Airpeak S1 was designed to capture high-definition footage using Sony’s full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens Alpha cameras. With a flight time of up to 12 minutes when carrying a camera and a maximum speed of 55.9mph, this high-end drone came with a hefty price tag of around $9,000 before adding any accessories. Despite its impressive specs, it received mixed to negative reviews from users.
