Microsoft Introduces New AI Agent Creation Tool for Businesses, Posing a Challenge to Salesforce

Microsoft ⁢is gearing up to empower businesses with ⁢the‍ ability to create their own independent artificial intelligence agents starting next month, setting ‌the stage for a showdown with Salesforce.

While Salesforce had already introduced customizable⁤ AI tools back ⁤in September, Microsoft is now stepping into the ⁣ring with its own AI agents offering.

During⁤ Microsoft’s “AI Tour” event in London ⁤on Monday, the company revealed its plans to enable organizations to develop their autonomous agents within⁤ Copilot Studio. This platform allows users to craft their personal‌ co-pilot assistants, as⁢ reported by NBC News.

The autonomous‌ agents were initially⁤ available ⁣through private preview following Microsoft’s announcement⁣ in May. The transition to public preview next month will open up opportunities for more entities to⁤ start building their ⁣AI agents.

These AI agents function as “virtual workers,” capable of ⁢executing specific tasks independently without constant ⁢oversight.‍ They represent ⁤a more advanced form of⁢ large language model-based AI‍ commonly seen in chat interfaces. Their seamless operations enhance user experiences by‌ working discreetly in the⁤ background.

In addition to ⁤launching these agents within Copilot Studio, Microsoft will introduce 10 new autonomous ‍agents within Dynamics 365, its enterprise resource planning suite. These new agents will cater to service, finance, sales, and supply chain teams.

Demonstrating an example at Monday’s event was Jared ⁢Spataro, Microsoft’s corporate⁣ vice president of modern work and business applications. He showcased an AI agent ⁣developed at McKinsey consulting ⁤firm that efficiently handled⁣ email parsing ⁢and communication mapping using industry-standard terms before directing it appropriately within the organization for further action – all developed using human language input.
