RoboCop: Rogue City – A Fan’s Dream Come True, an Almost Role-Playing Game

Journalists from the German publication GameStar have shared their impressions of RoboCop Rogue City, a role-playing action game based on⁤ the movie “RoboCop”. The game, developed by ⁤Teyon studio,‌ is the first to use the Unreal Engine 5.

RoboCop Rogue City utilizes two important ⁤elements of Unreal Engine 5: Lumen Global Lighting and Nanite ⁢Dynamic Detailing System. These features enhance the realism ⁤of the game world ⁢and are highly valued by developers.

Unlike other games that‌ use⁤ filters to create an 80s movie ⁣atmosphere, RoboCop Rogue City employs⁣ post-processing effects to capture⁢ the original “RoboCop” film’s ⁤atmosphere. The developers aimed to create a sense of retro while maintaining a‍ clear and crisp image.

The game does not include a “New Game Plus” mode, and ‌the developers faced challenges in adapting the gameplay to ‍prevent RoboCop‍ from running. However, the game will feature unique enemies with different weapons, posing a real challenge to RoboCop. ⁤Although he ‌is⁣ strong,‍ he is not indestructible, as seen⁤ in the special forces attack in the ⁤first RoboCop film.

The game incorporates realistic weapon recoil, ‌blood splatter effects, and a variety of explosive objects. In first-person mode, the hero moves slowly, absorbing blows and healing with scattered repair modules. The hero can also engage in‌ hand-to-hand combat, delivering deadly blows and throwing objects like chairs, ⁢televisions, and motorcycles.

Every aspect of the game,‌ from sound effects to the additional ⁣scanning display in combat, pays homage ⁢to the original film. Players can explore the streets of Detroit between battles and ⁣story missions, completing side missions and earning experience points to develop‌ useful skills.

RoboCop: Rogue City’s demo version impressed the journalists, surpassing 90% of modern shooters. However,‌ they noted that the game occasionally ‍feels like a relic of the past. Nevertheless, it is considered a love letter to fans of the 1987 film, offering more than just shooting.

RoboCop: Rogue City is set to be released in September 2023, ⁢with ⁢the exact release date yet to be announced.
