Something wicked is coming to the Pokemon Trading Card Game: the 2023 edition of the Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle. This is a Halloween-themed set of cards, focused mainly on the Pokémon TCG’s creepiest and crawliest monsters. Unlike the recent Obsidian Flames expansion, which focused on adding powerful Pokemon-ex cards with unusual Tera types and unique art, the Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle contains a set of classic, unchanged, spookily-inspired cards. The TCG put out a similar set of these holiday-themed cards for the first time last year, which proved popular. At long last, the time for another edition of the BOOster Bundle draws near.
This is far from the typical booster or Pokémon TCG promo. It’s much larger, for one thing, containing 50 mini-packs of three cards each for a total of 150 cards inside. Its theme is so specific and specialized that it couldn’t possibly make up a balanced deck all by itself. But for trainers who can commit to just a handful of Pokémon types, the Trick or Trade BOOster packs for 2023 are a great way to build out a macabre collection.
The Pokémon TCG has firmly declared that spooky season begins in August, setting the release date for the Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle at the end of the month. No exact date has been announced yet, but as per the official Pokémon Center website, the bundles are due to ship in late August. That means they should arrive both in stores and on preorderers doorsteps in early September, at the very latest.
The 2023 Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle for the Pokémon TCG may not have declared an official release date, but it’s possible to make a more exact estimate. Some third-party sellers are promising delivery as early as August 21, which may provide some insight into when the bundle’s actually due for release. However, those dates are subject to change and can’t always be trusted. Still, for those who are already interested in this booster bundle, it’s currently available for preorder through most major retailers, including the official Pokémon Center.
One of the best Pokémon in the Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle is the all-powerful Mewtwo. A bioengineered evolution of Mew, the first-ever Pokémon according to series lore and one of the hardest to find, Mewtwo is known for its type-defying abilities and long-standing rivalry with its genetic sibling. In the Pokémon TCG, Mewtwo has two moves: the attack Psyburn, which deals 110 damage, and the strategic Life Sucker, which allows it to steal 20 HP from an opponent’s Pokémon. Thanks to the versatility of its moves and its relatively high HP (130), Mewtwo makes an excellent addition to almost any Pokémon team.
