As Link explores Hyrule, he’ll come across a number of Geoglyphs scattered throughout the map, and as such, players may begin to wonder what the best order for finding Geoglyphs is in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Though locating all of these large, ancient markings isn’t necessarily required to complete the game, it’s strongly recommended to do so anyway – as the Dragon Tears found therein contain memories of past events, explaining TOTK’s story.
[Warning: The following article contains minor spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom.]To start finding Geoglyphs and Dragon Tears, players will first need to embark upon the “Impa and the Geoglyphs” quest. This involves meeting up with Impa, who will help Link find the first Geoglyph and Dragon Tear. After that, they’ll unlock access to “The Dragon Tears,” a side mission which tasks players with finding the rest of the Dragon Tears. They’ll join Impa on her expedition into the Forgotten Temple in Tears of the Kingdom, wherein players can find a map marking the location of each Geoglyph. This is a valuable resource, but unfortunately, it doesn’t depict the best order for finding Geoglyphs in TOTK.
There are a total of 11 Geoglyphs and 12 Dragon Tears in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it’s best to find them in numerical order. Doing so will grant players a chronological viewing experience, which might make it a bit easier to piece together the game’s story. In some cases, it will require going from one end of the map to another, but knowing the coordinates of each Geoglyph can make the process a bit less tedious.
The final Dragon Tear can only be viewed once players have unlocked the previous 11. It’s located in the Rist Peninsula (at the end of the spiral formation), but it isn’t actually part of a Geoglyph.
Without a doubt, the best order for finding Geoglyphs in Tears of the Kingdom is chronologically – but it’s not absolutely necessary. Indeed, it might require a bit more brainpower to figure out the game’s events out of order, but once players catch on to the main gist of the story, it’s not too difficult to follow along. Plus, since the Adventure Log allows Link to rewatch memories at any time, players who prefer to stumble across the Geoglyphs organically still have the chance to watch the flashbacks in sequence.
