McDonald’s has announced that it will be selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts at its restaurants nationwide by the end of 2026. The rollout is set to begin in the second half of this year and will take approximately two and a half years as Krispy Kreme expands its distribution to accommodate the partnership. During this time, McDonald’s will be the exclusive fast-food partner for Krispy Kreme in the U.S.
Krispy Kreme utilizes a “hub and spoke” model to efficiently produce and distribute its treats. Production hubs, which can be stores or doughnut factories, send freshly made doughnuts to retail locations like grocery stores and gas stations on a daily basis.
This partnership with McDonald’s presents a significant opportunity for Krispy Kreme to broaden its reach. As of December 31, the doughnut chain delivers its products to 6,800 third-party stores. Meanwhile, McDonald’s operates approximately 13,500 restaurants in the U.S. and has plans to open 900 new locations nationwide by 2027.
This collaboration is a strategic move for both companies, and it is expected to benefit customers by providing greater accessibility to Krispy Kreme’s beloved doughnuts.
