Live Modes, Redemption Codes, and Battle Pass in Pokémon TCG

After some development time, Pokémon TCG Live is available for all players, and the revamped version of Pokémon TCG Online brings forth a few extra features and tools to use. In essence, most of the game remains the same when it comes to the TCG’s traditional rules, but now players have easier access to cards and the game itself presents more options when it comes to customization and organization.

With Pokémon TCG Live, there are different game modes, an improved code redemption method, an enhanced Battle Pass, and much more. In addition to that, players can even customize their own avatars in Pokémon TCG Live, as well as build decks, and keep a digital collection of cards. The new game is available for mobile Android and iOS systems, as well as PC and Mac. Players need to set up a Pokémon Trainer Club account, which can be done through the Pokémon TCG Live game itself.

There are, so far, two main game modes in Pokémon TCG Live: Ranked matches and Casual Matches. Both of them use the same rules as the physical version of Pokémon TCG. Ranked matches follow the Standard format regulations, which means that only up-to-date mechanics and cards can be used. Players get rank points and climb a monthly ladder with rewards in Ranked mode. In Casual mode, players can take on Standard mode, which is the same as Ranked, but without rank points, or Expanded mode (beta), which allows players to use cards from Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon and all the expansions released after that collection.

One of the main ways of getting new cards is to redeem codes in Pokémon TCG Live. These codes are gifted with every physical booster pack or physical Pokémon TCG product that is sold. The codes will not grant the exact same cards that come in the physical boosters, but six randomized ones from the collection to which they belong. Some special editions, like the Elite Trainer Boxes, come with codes that offer specific promo cards that have a guaranteed drop rate. Certain codes offer full decks, while some grant card sleeves and even coins to use.

In order to redeem these codes in Pokémon TCG Live and get more cards, players have to use the Redeem feature in the game. This can be found in the in-game shop. Within the Redeem page, players have two distinct options to redeem the codes. The first one is to scan the QR codes present in each code card. The second method is to type the code manually into the box. Players can submit multiple codes at once and, once they are done, click the “Collect All” button to claim all the rewards provided by the codes. This is where the game will show what cards players have obtained.
