Tajikistan has officially raised concerns with the Russian ambassador, Semyon Grigoryev, regarding the mistreatment of its citizens and violations of their rights. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan expressed deep worry over the increasing cases of discrimination against Tajik citizens in Russia, including unjustified entry denials.
Following a terrorist attack at “Crocus City Hall,” Tajik migrants in Russia have been subjected to heightened nationalism and xenophobia. This has led to a climate of fear among migrants, with taxi drivers facing aggression and individuals with expired documents being deported at their own expense.
In response to these issues, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Russia temporarily. Additionally, a proposed federal law in Russia aims to tighten control over foreign citizens residing in the country.
