The Ring Garlands available for purchase in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s Kakariko Village are beautiful decorations, but some players are unsure of their purpose. Tears of the Kingdom is a massive game with many hidden secrets, and while most items have a use, the Ring Garland has left many fans confused.
Following the appearance of the Ring Ruins, researchers and travelers have flocked to Kakariko Village, prompting a young Sheikah girl named Koko to sell Ring Garlands. Previously the focus of one of Breath of the Wild’s saddest side quests, Koko now sells one Ring Garland per day to Link for only five rupees. However, these garlands are large and require Link to either fuse them to his equipment or use both hands to carry them around. Additionally, they are not related to any side quests in or around Kakariko Village, leaving their purpose unclear.
Despite their lack of practical use, Ring Garlands are well-regarded as symbols of love in Hyrule, and Koko will even give them a little kiss for extra love whenever Link buys one. While they offer no special benefits for fusing and have poor durability, they can be used for decoration in Link or Zelda’s houses or to add color to contraptions built using Ultrahand.
Ring Garlands are cheap decorations for their size, but their limited usability offsets their affordability. Apart from decorative purposes, the only real use for them is to cheer up Deltan, which comes with no reward. However, doing good deeds without expecting compensation is one of the marks of a true hero. So while Link may not be able to use them for much, perhaps the true purpose of the Ring Garlands in Tears of the Kingdom is to subtly test both his and the player’s heroic natures.
