Confirmed Na’vi Clans in Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora

The world of Pandora that began on the silver screen continues to grow with the world premiere of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the first in-universe game, which will introduce players to new clans of the indigenous Na’vi. There new clans will play a pivotal role, as Frontiers of Pandora seems more grounded in the heritage of the Na’vi than ever, with the player connecting with their Na’vi heritage after 15 years in human captivity.

While some of the newly introduced tribes resemble Na’vi clans that exist in-universe already, their names are different and it looks like the new additions will be getting a deep dive in Frontiers of Pandora. As shown in the gameplay overview trailer released by developer Ubisoft, each of these tribes brings something unique to the player’s experience as well.

The first group to be showcased in the gameplay trailer is the Aranahe tribe, who reside beneath the gorgeous floating mountains known as the Rookery. While their connection to the flying beasts Ikran resembles the tribe known as the Tayrangi that appeared in the final battle of the original Avatar movie; this group seems to be distinct. They are known for being a clan of peaceful weavers; however, that doesn’t stop the Aranahe from being a huge help to the player along their journey.

According to the gameplay trailer, this tribe is the first players will encounter. The Aranahe takes the player on their first hunt and also serves as an introduction to a feature that seems as important in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as it is in the films; animal companionship. Through this tribe, the player bonds with an Ikran themselves, allowing for both airborne exploration of Pandora and combat with the human antagonists; the Resources Development Administration (RDA). Learning from the practices of this tribe seems to be both a sort of potential tutorial, as well as a way to unlock major features that change how players can interact with the game.

The Zeswa tribe is also named for the first time in the gameplay trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. This nomadic group of Na’vi inhabits the northern Upper Plains among the enormous Zakru. It’s unclear so far whether the tribe uses this animal as a resource for milk or meat, or if it is more of a cohabitation or reverence way of life. What is clear is the Zeswa’s close bond with the direhorses that live on the Upper Plain. This makes them similar to another tribe that appeared in the final battle of the original Avatar film, called the Olangi.
