With the release of the epic space game Starfield, Bethesda Softworks has launched a collector’s edition for sale. For $300, players received a unique steelbook, several patches, and most importantly — smart watches with the brand’s design and synchronization of certain game features along with the highly anticipated game. It is with the watches that serious difficulties arose. Many players even started accusing Bethesda of selling defective Starfield collector’s editions.
One of the first to notice the issue with the collector’s edition was a user with the nickname Tovrin on the Reddit forum. He complained that less than a month after purchasing it, his smart watch “stopped working.” According to him, he recently left them to charge, but after that, they simply stopped functioning. He immediately contacted Bethesda’s customer support but did not receive a clear response. He had to seek attention on social media and forums, only after which the company representatives contacted him and promised to fix everything.
Tovrin is not the only one who encountered defects in the collector’s edition. Other players on social media and under his post also actively began to complain about problems with the watches. Their issues are similar — the watches stop working properly in various situations, and some even complain about the appearance of dead pixels on the screen. As users note, they are still waiting for Bethesda to replace their watches, but so far, they have received nothing.
Within Bethesda itself, they have stated that they are trying to respond promptly to such reports. As noted by the company, they are currently dealing with a high volume of orders, so some people may have to wait for their watch replacements.
