Morocco has experienced one of the most powerful earthquakes in its history, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives, destruction of historic buildings, and displacement of many residents.
Reports from major cities indicate that the earthquake caused unbearable screams, causing widespread devastation throughout the North African nation. The losses, both human and economic, are expected to be significant.

According to Moroccan media, this is the strongest earthquake ever recorded in the country.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has measured the magnitude of the quake at 6.8, with a relatively shallow depth of 18.5km (11.5 miles).
Meanwhile, Morocco’s geophysical centre has reported a magnitude of 7.2 for the earthquake.
