Retail trading and property data are set to be released this week.
Upcoming retail trading data will provide insights into how Australian consumers are managing the high cost of living.
The March dataset from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, to be released on Tuesday, follows a modest 0.3% increase in February, partly due to Taylor Swift concerts.
Consumers are facing challenges from rising interest rates, slowing inflation, and increased tax burdens.
Selected cost-of-living indexes from the ABS this week will show the impact of higher prices on different household types.
Despite economic challenges, property prices continue to rise.
CoreLogic’s home value index update for April, due on Wednesday, follows a 0.6% increase in March.
Property prices rose in all capital cities except Darwin, with significant increases in Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane.
More housing-related data, including building approvals for March, is expected later in the week.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers will speak on the domestic and international economy at the Lowy Institute on Wednesday.
The treasurer will present the third budget on May 14.
