Transforming DLSS 3 to FSR 3 enables the generation of frames, resulting in a remarkable 75% performance boost for GeForce RTX 20 and 30.
Reports indicate that the innovative FSR 3 to DLSS 3 conversion mod significantly enhances the gaming performance of older GeForce RTX 2000 and GeForce RTX 3000 graphics cards, delivering up to 75% improvement. This empowers users with older cards to experience modern games at higher frame rates.
This breakthrough mod became achievable following the release of AMD’s source code for FSR 3. Enthusiasts successfully integrated FSR 3 frame generation into projects supporting DLSS 3 Frame Generation, making it possible to utilize FSR 3 in games that initially did not support this technology.
Tested by Digital Foundry, the mod allows for the modification of the Windows registry, tricking the operating system into recognizing GeForce RTX 2000 and GeForce RTX 3000 cards as compatible with DLSS 3 Frame Generation. Consequently, the option to activate DLSS 3 appears in the game settings, effectively utilizing FSR 3.
For instance, in Cyberpunk 2077, using an RTX 3080 card at 2K resolution, performance increased by nearly 70%. Without DLSS 3/FSR 3, the game ran at 60 frames per second, but with the mod, it reached over 100 frames per second. In Spider-Man, the improvement was even more significant at 75%. However, there are some reported drawbacks, such as flickering shadows and disappearing hair.
Nevertheless, ongoing developments in this area may lead to mods without such drawbacks. The concept of transforming FSR 3 to DLSS 3 holds great promise.
