Cyberpunk 2077 is currently experiencing a resurgence on Steam thanks to the recently released 2.0 update, which has made significant improvements to the game’s key elements.
According to statistics from SteamDB, over 115,510 users played the game simultaneously in the past 24 hours (at the time of writing this news – 100,346). Just the day before, the average number of players was around 15,000, so the growth is quite significant. Currently, Cyberpunk 2077 is ranked 8th in the list of “most played” games, behind popular titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, CS, Dota 2, and Apex.
This can also be seen in the list of top sellers on the platform. Currently, Cyberpunk 2077 is ranked third, only surpassed by EA Sports FC 24 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Interestingly, the Spectre of Freedom add-on is ranked fifth, only surpassed by the recently released Payday 3. Cyberpunk 2077 has also made it into the top ten of the “Trends” ranking, occupying the 9th position.
It’s worth noting that not long ago, Cyberpunk 2077 achieved a ”very positive” review status on Steam. This means that out of over five hundred thousand reviews, at least 80% were positive. After the controversial release of the game, the reviews remained more “mixed” for a long time.
It can be assumed that many players will continue playing the game for a longer period of time to not only experience the new features but also prepare their character for the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion. The release of this expansion, which will be the first and last for Cyberpunk 2077, is scheduled for next Tuesday – September 26 – exclusively on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
However, before diving back into the game, it is advisable to follow the developers’ advice and remove all modifications to avoid any issues with file integrity. It would also be wise to start the game from the beginning to familiarize yourself with each new character development path. Update 2.0 is available exclusively on PC and current-generation consoles.
