Exciting new details about the potential plot of the upcoming film “Alien: Romulus” have surfaced.
According to the World of Reel portal, 20th Century Studios recently held a test screening for “Alien: Romulus (2024)”, and rumors about the plot have begun to circulate in Hollywood.
While the audience’s reaction remains a mystery, leaked descriptions hint at a thrilling storyline centered around a group of six young scavengers who find themselves in peril after trespassing into the long-abandoned Weyland-Yutani research station. Rain (Keely Spence) is reportedly the leader of the scavengers, with Andy (David Jónsson) as her android brother.
Expectations are high for intense violence, especially with the introduction of facehuggers equipped with spikes capable of inflicting harm. The title “Romulus” refers to the name of the research station where the film unfolds, and it seems that Spence’s character will embody the spirit of the franchise’s iconic Ripley, taking on the xenomorphs.
While these are the only leaked details so far, Spence’s own words about the film are worth noting:
“This film is meant to fill in the space between the first and second parts. They invited the same team that worked on James Cameron’s ’Aliens’. The same people who created the xenomorphs worked on our film. The opportunity to see all those old projects alongside people who worked on those films 45 years ago was amazing.”
In addition to Spence (“Bad Times at the El Royale”), the film also features David Jonsson (“Industry”), Archie Reno (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“Transformers: The Last Knight”), Spike Fern (“After the Sunset”), and Eileen Wu (“Far from Home”). Unlike its predecessors, which focused on adult characters, this installment will shine a spotlight on the younger generation.
The highly-anticipated “Alien: Romulus” is scheduled to premiere on August 16, with Federico Alvarez (“Don’t Breathe”) at the helm as director and screenwriter.
