Unlocking and Utilizing Aspects in Diablo 4

Unlocking and Utilizing Aspects in Diablo 4

Aspects are powerful passive abilities that apply to items the player can unlock and use in Diablo 4. The Fractured Peaks location throughout Act 1 provides plenty of locations for players to unlock new Aspects as they explore the area, often determined by the chosen character class. Players looking to maximize their character build are heavily recommended to use Aspects, as they represent a whole new layer to customization once legendary weapons, armor, and other equipment starts to show up.

No matter what Aspects players unlock and use, they will need to see the Occultist vendor Demyan in Kyovashad to apply these passive bonuses. Right across the road from where players buy equipment or transmog their gear in Diablo 4, the Occultist allows players to imprint Aspects onto existing items. There are two sources in which players acquire Aspects, either from their Codex of Power or off pre-existing Legendary gear. While the Codex may be filled with multiple options for the player to choose from, Legendary items have finite abilities pre-determined by the random loot system present in the game.

New Aspects are added to a player’s Codex when certain dungeons are cleared in the world or when the Occultist salvages a piece of Legendary gear. Similar to new item appearances seen when salvaging objects with never before seen looks, players can destroy legendary weapons and armor for their Aspect(s). For example, a player trying to improve their Barbarian build in Diablo 4 might want to break down a legendary two-handed weapon for its Aspect that increases Fury gain.

Specific dungeons found throughout the world also give players new Aspects in their Codex of Power, listed under a small bar icon located with the gate symbol used to depict dungeons on the map. While mostly tied to direct character classes, these dungeons are also excellent sources of loot and experience for players trying to level up their character. The guarantee of Aspects rather than rolling the dice on a legendary item that players don’t want to break down just yet could have more appeal.

Once new Aspects have been unlocked, players will still need to collect enough gold and materials to apply these passive abilities to new items. Renown gained in Diablo 4 provides rewards that help if players are running low on currency, but thankfully that issue is easily solved through the exploration of dungeons with plenty of loot. To use Aspects after players unlock them in Diablo 4, some grinding may be necessary, but the result provides a strong benefit that is worth the effort.
