Baldur’s Gate 3 introduces an interesting tactic known as save scumming, which allows players to manipulate outcomes by creating multiple save files. However, Honour Mode eliminates this strategy by restricting players to a single save file for the entire game. This forces players to think outside the box to find ways to save NPCs from death or resurrect them.
Save scumming involves creating save files before crucial moments and reloading them if the outcome is unfavorable. In other game modes, players can create extra save files to exploit this tactic. However, even in other difficulties, players may challenge themselves to avoid save scumming and find alternative solutions to unfavorable outcomes.
As players progress to Act 2, they have the option to choose between the Underdark or the Mountain Pass. Exploring both areas can provide additional content, and players can then choose one as an entrance to the Shadow-cursed Lands. In the Underdark, players may encounter the Myconid Colony, where they can choose to side with Sovereign Glut, unlocking his powerful Animating Spores ability.
Choosing to side with Sovereign Glut grants the party access to his Animating Spores ability, but only while in the Underdark. Once the party enters Shadowfell, they can no longer return to the Underdark to make use of Glut’s revival ability. This forces players to rely on other methods to revive NPCs, such as animate dead and Fungal Infestation. Revived NPCs also do not gain any dialogue options or offer the chance to complete quests.
By aiding Glut and overthrowing Spaw, players can bring corpses to Glut to have them revived. Glut can reanimate various characters, granting players powerful minions with unique abilities.
