One Baldur’s Gate 3 player experienced the ultimate stroke of bad luck: dying right at the starting point. Dead on arrival.
This unfortunate player fell victim to a series of incredibly unlucky events and took to Reddit to share the harrowing tale. It turns out that Wild Magic, a sorcerer subclass in Baldur’s Gate 3, is to blame for the unexpected and random consequences that can occur when casting spells.
In this instance, the player cast the “Mage Armor” spell, only to have Wild Magic intervene and summon an aggressive Mephit out of thin air. Within a few turns, the lone player in the starting room met their demise.
What’s even more surprising is that such occurrences are extremely rare, even with the “Wild Magic” passive activated. Another Reddit user shared that after over 40 hours of gameplay, they decided to restart their character due to the infrequency of Wild Magic manifestations.
Months after its release, strange and unexpected events continue to unfold in Baldur’s Gate 3, leaving players wondering what other surprises the Larian role-playing game has in store.
