Top Executive at Sonos Steps Down, Creating New Leadership Opportunity

Sonos is undergoing significant changes‌ as it bounces back from setbacks⁤ caused by ‌a problematic mobile app redesign last year. Following the ⁢departure of CEO Patrick Spence, chief ‌product officer Maxime Bouvat-Merlin is also stepping down. ⁢He will serve as an advisor to interim CEO Tom Conrad during ‍the leadership transition before officially leaving Sonos.

Conrad shared news of this‍ latest leadership shift with Sonos employees through a company-wide email today. ⁢The role of CPO is being eliminated, with Sonos’ product team now‍ reporting directly to Conrad temporarily.

Since the release of a flawed mobile app update in ⁤May that was‍ plagued with bugs and missing features, Sonos has been struggling. This led to a decline in financial performance and a round of‍ layoffs in August affecting around 100 employees. In⁤ an effort to regain customer confidence following the app launch debacle, Sonos has⁣ taken various steps, including this recent decision to replace top leadership.
