Honkai: Star Rail 1.1’s new and free Light Cone, called Before The Tutorial Mission Starts, is now available to obtain – but for a limited time. Version 1.1 has finally arrived, and the update brought forth many new activities and content for players to explore within the turn-based RPG developed by HoYoverse. Before The Tutorial Mission Starts is one of these pieces of content. It is a 4-star Light Cone made for characters that follow the Path of the Nihility and is one of Silver Wolf’s signature weapons. In fact, the artwork for the weapon features Honkai: Star Rail’s Silver Wolf, along with copies of Owlbert.
While the free Light Cone from Honkai: Star Rail 1.1 can be equipped by any hero that follows the Path of the Nihility, it is a better fit for a few characters rather than others. The base HP, ATK, and DEF stats can all be used normally by the equipping character, but its Superimposition skill, which grants additional effects, relies on how certain heroes operate. Some characters are not capable of inflicting the specific statuses that trigger Before The Tutorial Mission Starts’ effects, so the Light Cone’s usage would ultimately go to waste. Honkai: Star Rail’s Welt, for instance, is one such character.
Additionally, the user regenerates 4 Energy when they attack opponents with reduced DEF. This number rises to 8 Energy with full Superimposition leveling. Because of this, Before The Tutorial Mission Starts in Honkai: Star Rail is good for characters and team comps that are able of reducing the enemies’ DEF stat. Characters that do this are, typically, those that follow the Path of the Nihility. Nevertheless, not all heroes do this, such as Welt. While the 5-star character is capable of applying debuffs, they do not normally affect DEF, but SPD.
The best characters to equip Before The Tutorial Mission Starts in Honkai: Star Rail are characters that follow the Path of the Nihility and are able to apply DEF debuffs to opponents. As this free Light Cone in Version 1.1 is Silver Wolf’s signature weapon, it is nearly tailor-made for her. She is, at the moment, the best character to equip it. Silver Wolf’s Talent has a chance of reducing the target’s DEF by 4% for three turns when she attacks enemies, which can then later be exploited by the Light Cone’s Superimposition skill.
In addition to that, Silver Wolf’s Ultimate has an 85% base chance of decreasing the target’s DEF by 36% for three turns. With a higher success rate, which can also be improved as players level her Traces, the Before The Tutorial Mission Starts Light Cone is a perfect match for Silver Wolf’s skill set in Honkai: Star Rail. Of course, her 5-star signature Light Cone Incessant Rain is much better, both in terms of base stats and Superimposition skill. Nevertheless, the free 4-star Light Cone from Version 1.1 is a great substitute in case players do not have any better options to choose from.
