Following Todd Howard’s comments on the optimization of the PC version of Starfield, Digital Foundry has released a highly anticipated analysis that suggests the creator’s claims may have been slightly exaggerated. According to Alex Battaglia’s in-depth analysis, while the PC version is undoubtedly the best, there are still some important improvements that need to be made.
It appears that the partnership that led to support for FSR 2 technology primarily focused on optimizing for Radeon graphics processors, which outperform NVIDIA graphics processors in managing the graphics sector of Starfield, despite the latter having superior performance on paper.
Todd Howard’s famous statements regarding optimization for the PC version are specifically mentioned in the Digital Foundry analysis, which confirms the existence of obvious issues that need to be addressed promptly.
Nevertheless, Digital Foundry believes that the PC version of Starfield has been released in good condition, especially considering recent disappointments with numerous ports. However, important features such as FOV adjustment, HDR support, the ability to change gamma and contrast, and of course, DLSS and XeSS technologies, are still missing.
