The newest set of Pokémon Trading Card Game cards, Scarlet & Violet: Paldea Evolved is going to be released in the West soon, bringing with it nearly 200 cards, some of which will be of high value. This will be the second major expansion to the Scarlet & Violet set of TCG cards, with some exciting additions including the final evolutions of the Scarlet & Violet video game starters as ex cards; Quaquaval, Skeledirge, and Meowscarada. The set was previously released in Japan in April 2023 and several of the specific cards have already received a high value on the collector’s market.
Pokémon TCG’s Scarlet & Violet: Paldea Evolved expansion releases on June 9, 2023. New sets like these are exciting because not only do they add new cards with new abilities to the tabletop game experience and beautiful artwork to enjoy, but collectors also know that this is the chance to get in on the ground floor for some cards whose value could become much higher over the years. At the time of writing, the cards have not yet been released and so values online are fairly moderate, but it is estimated that some of these, particularly Iono, could increase once available.
The Super Rod card is a fairly common item card throughout the history of the Pokémon TCG but the Paldea Evolved set will feature a Hyper Rare variety. The beautiful golden artwork on the card helps to make it stand out and is one that collectors will enjoy having. The Secret Art Rare version of Super Rod is card number 276/193 and currently has a presale value on TCGPlayer of $22.99 USD.
Wo-Chien ex 257/193 is a Grass-type Special Illustration Rare card that has beautiful dark artwork with greenery surrounding Wo-Chien. The card provides useful abilities for playing in-game but also is a lovely collectible card. The presale value of the Pokémon TCG Wo-Chien ex card on TCGPlayer is currently $26.49 USD.
The Secret Art Rare Paldea Evolved Pokémon TCG card for Dendra 250/193 is a tricky one to predict. The Japanese version of the card has been known to sell for as high as the equivalent of $200-$300 USD, but the English presale version of the card on TCGPlayer is currently only $27.99 USD. It remains to be seen whether the English edition of the card will remain at this value or if it will follow its foreign counterpart into being valued at ten times or more than what it is currently going for.
