The Surprising Game-Changing Benefit of Sex in Starfield

One of the best ways to gain XP in Starfield is by ⁣successfully seducing some of its NPCs. Accumulating XP is understandably a major component in games such as Starfield, allowing ⁢players ⁤to level up their characters to acquire more skills and access otherwise deadly areas. This now goes hand-in-hand with romancing companions, a ⁤popular feature in many RPGs, thanks to a new buff Bethesda Game Studios has added to Starfield.

There are many ways to get XP buffs in Starfield, from the 10% Well Rested boost from just sleeping in a bed to simply eating and drinking various food objects across the galaxy, particularly in locations such as the Whetstone restaurant in New Atlantis. All of these seem to pale in comparison to the major buff that comes from sleeping with some of the Settled Systems’ residents.

As reported by VG247 (via ⁣PC ⁢Gamer) the Emotional Security XP buff is one of the game’s ⁤best, which can only be gained through Starfield’s relationships. There are no one-night stands in Starfield, meaning that the only way to‌ get the Emotional Security buff is to fully romance one of the few available characters in the game, which can take some time. The payout for ⁤this is great though, as Emotional Security boosts XP gains by 15% for ‌24 real⁣ minutes, making it essential for ⁢those who are quickly looking to⁣ level up.

As successfully‌ romancing a companion results in them entering a relationship with the player’s character, the option will be there to bring them back to any bed they find, offering repeated opportunities to get the XP ‌buff. Despite Starfield’s M for Mature rating from the ESRB, players shouldn’t expect any Baldur’s Gate 3- or Mass Effect-esque sex cutscenes. ⁢Just like when resting in a bed,‍ the screen will fade to‍ black,⁣ and the companion will merely make a comment alluding to having sex with the player’s character upon waking up.

As mentioned previously,⁣ only a few of Starfield’s companions are romanceable, ⁣but it is fairly easy to seduce them. If players don’t carry out acts they disapprove of in front of them, and talk to them regularly, an option to flirt will appear in the⁣ dialogue choices, and doing so regularly can lead to them falling in love and ⁤potentially getting married. Out of the twenty‌ companions players can select,‌ only Sarah Morgan, Sam Coe, Barrett, and Andreja are open to romance and relationships.
