Tesla has recently announced a price reduction for its Full Self-Driving software in the US and Canada. The cost to add the Full Self-Driving (FSD) Capability is now $8,000 in the US and $11,000 in Canada, down from the previous prices of $12,000 and $16,000 CAD respectively. Additionally, Tesla has discontinued the $6,000 Enhanced Autopilot option, offering current owners with that package an upgrade to FSD for $2,000.
Despite the name, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving features are not intended to replace human drivers entirely at this stage. The company emphasizes that active driver supervision is still required, and the vehicle is not autonomous. To showcase the capabilities of FSD, Tesla now mandates that its staff provide a demonstration to buyers before they can drive their new cars home.
