Hyundai, known for its popular Ioniq lineup, has been noticeably absent from the list of major automakers adopting Tesla’s North America Charging Standard (NACS). However, the Korean automaker has now announced that it will begin using NACS in North America starting in Q4 2024 in the US, followed by Canada in the first half of 2025.
Hyundai’s electric vehicles (EVs) equipped with a NACS port will have access to over 12,000 Superchargers across North America, effectively doubling the number of DC fast chargers available to customers. “This new alliance will give Hyundai EV owners confidence in their ability to conveniently charge their vehicles… with at least 30,000 stations across North America,” stated Hyundai Motor North America CEO José Muñoz.
The upcoming Hyundai EVs, including the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and upcoming Ioniq 7, will be able to use the chargers by late 2024. Both new and older vehicles equipped with CCS chargers will be able to utilize them by the first quarter of 2025,…
