Starfield’s Metacritic Rating Plummets, Nearing Exclusion from Top 50 Games of 2023

Starfield’s Metacritic Rating Plummets, Nearing Exclusion from Top 50 Games of 2023

Undoubtedly, Starfield has‌ achieved tremendous success,‍ but it has ⁤nearly dropped out of‌ the⁤ top 50 games of 2023 on Metacritic.‍ Although many have hailed the game’s scale as “revolutionary,” this impressive scale⁣ and storyline⁤ couldn’t prevent ⁤its decline in ratings. According to ComicBook, the⁤ game’s ‌rating on⁢ Metacritic dropped to 83 points due to the publication of several late reviews.

It’s important to note that this score of 83 points applies ⁣to the Xbox‍ Series version. The PC version of the game fared slightly better with 87 points. As a result, Starfield ‍now occupies the 49th spot‌ on the list of the year’s highest-rated games, effectively falling out of the top 50. But‍ why is the Xbox Series X version rated 4 ‍points lower than ‌the PC version of Bethesda’s RPG? It’s hard to say⁣ for sure, but it could‍ be because the game doesn’t ⁢run as ‌smoothly on Xbox Series X ‍as it⁣ does on high-end PCs, which most of⁢ the PC game reviews were based‍ on. Unfortunately⁢ for Bethesda, the ‍ratings⁢ of both versions of ‍Starfield may further decline as more⁤ reviews come in.

The user ratings for the ⁣game are ⁢6.6 points for Xbox and 5.6 points for PC. However, these ratings should be taken with a grain of salt. While there are⁣ valid criticisms ‌of the game, it’s also evident that the so-called⁢ review⁤ bombing has influenced the ratings.

However, when compared to other games released this year, ‍83 and⁣ 87 points on Metacritic are quite ‌respectable. Furthermore, despite ⁤the fact that ‌game developers and publishers do care about Metacritic⁣ scores – sometimes even factoring ⁢them ‌into bonuses or performance reports – the commercial success of the game is more important, and millions of people are playing and‍ enjoying Starfield. ‌In other words, Xbox and Bethesda are likely quite satisfied‌ with the game’s current performance.
