South Korea Experiences Flooding and Landslides Following Intense Rainfall

At least seven people have been killed and three others are missing in South Korea due to flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains, according to authorities.

The Interior Ministry stated that five individuals died when buildings collapsed from landslides, while one person was buried in earth and sand. Another person died after a road collapsed beneath them.

The ministry also reported that parts of central South Korea were under a heavy rainfall advisory, with some areas expecting rainfall of up to 1.6 inches per hour later in the day.

South Korea experiences heavy monsoon rain during the summers, while the rest of the year is generally dry and sunny. Spring poses a particular risk of wildfires.
