Once again, Samsung’s boss, Lee Jae-yong, has managed to avoid prison. In 2017, he was charged with bribery and found guilty, leading to a series of legal battles and time behind bars. In 2020, he faced further charges related to stock-price manipulation and auditing fraud. However, on February 5th, the court acquitted him and 13 other Samsung employees of all charges, providing Mr. Lee with a clean slate. These legal troubles stemmed from a 2015 merger, which ultimately passed control of Samsung to Mr. Lee. With this chapter behind him, he can now focus on getting back to business.
