What is the G20 summit?
The G20 comprises 19 of the world’s largest economies along with the European Union. The African Union also became a member in 2023.
Member countries include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan,Mexico,Russia,Saudi Arabia,South Africa,South Korea,Turkiye,the UK,and US. Spain participates as a permanent guest.
The G20 was established in 1999 following various economic crises to address policy issues. Since then,it has held an annual summit every year. India hosted it in 2023 and Indonesia hosted it in 2022.
