A shocking report from Homelessness NSW and Impact Economics has revealed that three million Australians are now facing the risk of homelessness, marking a 63% increase since 2016.
Through an analysis of household data including income, support systems, and rental stress, the report uncovered that in 2022, there are now 3.04 million Australians at risk of homelessness compared to 1.87 million in 2016.
Frontline services are struggling to keep up with demand as one in every five days they are unable to assist families with children due to being overwhelmed.
Individuals without children face rejection every other day while unaccompanied young people and children without shelter are turned away almost every tenth day.
