Steam has recently experienced a surge in pirates launching games on its platform. The digital store reported a significant increase in player activity, with many of these new users being pirates. These pirates are using Steam to bypass game protection systems and play network modes using “dummy” games like Spacewar.
Interestingly, the number of active players in Spacewar has skyrocketed, despite the game being removed from the Steam store. Over the weekend, a new record was set with more than 102,000 users playing simultaneously, most of whom are pirates. This surpasses the previous record of 78,000 active pirate users set last year.
