Revive the Epic Battles of Star Wars: Battlefront with the Classic Collection – A Nostalgic Adventure Awaits

Star Wars: Battlefront I and ⁤II have made a triumphant return in the ⁢form of the remastered Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection for modern consoles, nearly two decades after their ⁣original release. Aspyr’s successful remaster of Tomb Raider I-III has raised hopes for a similar treatment for other beloved older franchises, but the‌ Classic Collection seems to be ⁢more about nostalgia than significant improvements.

The highly anticipated ⁢64-player lobbies available online are a major draw for this collection, but it quickly becomes apparent that the games were not originally designed for such large-scale gameplay. With a file size ⁤comparable to large JRPGs and only minor‌ graphic changes,⁤ it’s worth questioning whether modern Battlefront games might be a better option.

While ⁣the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection will certainly appeal to players who have fond memories of the original games, it falls short of being a true remaster. Many of the original elements remain unchanged, ⁢and the new features and remade aspects are plagued with bugs, ⁤making some of them ‍unplayable.

Additional‌ map options for Hero Assault mode are a welcome ‍addition, but they are marred by bugs that affect gameplay. The inclusion of 64-player lobbies was a ‍major selling point, but the servers have been plagued by ⁢crashes and ‍other issues, putting the massive online multiplayer⁢ mode on ⁤hold.

Despite these issues,⁢ Aspyr is actively working to resolve them, but it’s disappointing for players who were eager to experience the Classic Collection at launch.
