Review of the REDMAGIC Gaming Mouse & Keyboard: Affordable and Stylish Choices for Gamers

REDMAGIC‘s gaming line is a strong consideration for prospective buyers, operating in the low-end premium space and offering a slew of appealing options for its pricepoints. Screen Rant went hands-on with both the REDMAGIC Mechanical Keyboard and REDMAGIC Gaming Mouse, and both peripherals performed strongly in testing, with a performance that is either consistent with or exceeds the expectations of similarly priced competitors.

REDMAGIC has been around since 2017 as a company focused on delivering an experience consistent with the expectations of gamers looking for better-than-average setups. With both the keyboard and mouse, it’s clear that philosophy remains a point of focus. While truly premium offerings will still offer better construction and more options, for those looking between $100-250 on their mice and keyboards, REDMAGIC needs to be considered.

As a fully featured keyboard, the REDMAGIC mechanical is a behemoth, and it takes up a far amount of desk space as a result. What users get in that trade-off is a sturdy build, despite feeling a little more like plastic than might be expected of its $199 pricepoint. An audio adjustment knob and a customizable LED screen – which, perhaps thanks to a keen knowledge of its demographic, comes with an anime girl as a default background – round out the notable features of the keyboard.

Having tested the REDMAGIC mechanical keyboard over a number of weeks, it definitely appears sturdy, with no issues arising from extended daily use. While gaming, button presses were responsive, with no noticeable input lag while playing games like VALORANT and World of Warcraft. There’s a lot to like about the keyboard and little to complain about, though a more compact design might save some desk space for tight settings, and the overall finish doesn’t scream “premium” thanks to its plastic feel and appearance.

For as good as the keyboard is, the real star is REDMAGIC’s gaming mouse, which might not inspire a ton of confidence thanks to its plastic appearance but hides a responsive, quality build underneath. A quick overview of its features: the mouse is 75 grams, 26000 DPI, can be connected via wire/Bluetooth/wireless, and has a battery life that extends well beyond a few days of consistent use. With REDMAGIC Cloud, the mouse is also programmable and adjustable, which helps iron out any minor issues that tend to come when swapping over from a comfortable mouse to a new one.
