Rockstar Games has announced that its highly acclaimed 2010 Western title, Red Dead Redemption, will be coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. The game will be ported from its original PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to PS4 (with PS5 owners able to access it via backward compatibility) and Switch by Double Eleven Studios, enabling a wider audience to experience John Marston’s tragic story on modern devices.

Red Dead Redemption will launch on Nintendo Switch on August 17, 2023, alongside the PlayStation 4 release. This will be part of a digital bundle that includes the zombie spin-off Undead Nightmare, and is available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop now.
As was the case with the previous major Switch port of Rockstar titles, like the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, a physical copy will release later in the year. This physical copy is coming on October 13, but it is unclear what additional content will be included in this physical edition. Previous versions of Red Dead Redemption came with the likes of physical maps, much like other Rockstar Games from that time, but the GTA: The Trilogy’s physical release came only with a cartridge and no extra physical bonuses.
Considering the management of other Switch releases of games from a similar era, like the Switch’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy, it’s likely that not all of the games will be included on the cartridge. In the case of the Batman: Arkham Asylum trilogy, which releases later this year, only the first game in the series, Arkham Asylum, is on the cartridge, with the others available via a digital download that uses the cartridge almost like a key to access them.
