The creators of the turn-based strategy game King Arthur: Knight’s Tale initially revealed Legion IX as downloadable content. However, earlier this year, the project was rebranded as a standalone game, set to launch on May 9th.
It’s important to note that the game’s local setting, while inspired by the legends of King Arthur, is reimagined in the dark fantasy genre. In the kingdom of Avalon, undead creatures and other malevolent beings roam, under the rule of the enigmatic Lady of the Lake.
In Legion IX, players assume the role of a deceased general. Their objective is to establish the Eternal Rome on the island of Avalon, in line with the epic narrative of the original game. However, they must first assemble an army to proudly bear the eagle of the ninth legion.
- The protagonist is Tribune Gaius Julius Menton.
- Players will engage in battles against the Knights of the Round Table and Sir Mordred across 15 missions.
- In combat, players will command a squad of 5-6 fighters. The battle system remains largely unchanged from Knight’s Tale.
- Menton has returned to this world from Tartarus as a demon and servant of the deceased Emperor Septimius Sulla. However, the player’s choices throughout the story will impact the humanity of the hero. Ultimately, the Tribune must decide between humanity and duty.
- In the strategic aspect of the game, players must rebuild New Rome, carefully managing resources.
King Arthur: Legion IX shares the same system requirements as Knight’s Tale. The game will be available on May 9th on PC (Steam) and will include a text translation into Russian.
