Sotheby’s is expanding its sports offerings to meet the growing demand for sports memorabilia and attract a younger demographic. The auction house announced its first “Sports Week,” featuring six live and online auctions with items from top sports figures, including Michael Jordan’s game-worn Air Jordan 11s from Game 5 of the 1996 NBA Finals. The auctions will begin on April 5, catering to both seasoned collectors and sports fans. According to Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of Streetwear & Modern Collectibles, the sports memorabilia category has seen significant growth in recent years, making it one of Sotheby’s fastest-growing categories. This move represents Sotheby’s commitment to engaging with collecting communities through creative sale formats and attractive estimates. Source from www.cnbc.com
