Since its launch, Overwatch has faced challenges in establishing its narrative. However, Blizzard is now addressing this by introducing story missions in Overwatch 2 in August to advance the plot. Additionally, the company is revisiting the past with a new animated mini-series.
Genesis: An Overwatch Mini-Series is a three-part animated show that delves into the early days of the organization. The teaser trailer showcases the older generation heroes, including Reinhardt, Torbjörn, and Ana, during the original Omnic Crisis. It also introduces Dr. Mina Liao, the creator of Echo and one of the pioneers of the Omnics, the synthetic citizens of the Overwatch universe. While the trailer features familiar characters, it concludes with an unknown Omnic character approaching the Nepal monastery, a map in the game and a sanctuary for Omnics.
