There are new skins in Genshin Impact 4.4, according to a set of leaks that go so far as to describe the design of these alternate pieces of clothes. While not as popular or common as playable characters themselves, skins offer players the chance to change some heroes’ appearances, often equipping clothing that is designed differently and even boasts different color palettes than usual. So far, HoYoverse has introduced 10 different skins for characters in the game, the last ones added being Kaeya and Klee’s skins in Genshin Impact’s Version 3.8. Skins for 5-star characters are usually paid, while those for 4-star heroes are given for free via limited-time events.
Of course, at the end of their respective events, these 4-star skins become premium purchases available in the store. Regardless, it seems like a new batch of skins is arriving with Version 4.4. This is in line with HoYoverse’s pattern of skin releases in x.4 and x.8 updates. In Version 3.4, for instance, Ayaka and Lisa received skins in Genshin Impact – Ayaka’s skin was paid, while Lisa’s was distributed for free, given the character’s rarity. This time, two heroes from Liyue are getting new skins. Because of how they are described in the leaks, they may also end up being the most beautiful ones released so far.
According to an alleged piece of information shared by the leaker known as Foul, later shared on Reddit by user ___somebody_, both Ganyu and Shenhe are getting new skins with Genshin Impact 4.4. Foul’s leaks mention that Ganyu’s skin features a formal dress with “leg rings” and that the character will be barefoot, without any sort of footwear. Both Ganyu and Shenhe’s skins will be black with blue accents, according to the leaks. There is no description of Shenhe’s skin. Foul mentions that both skins are 4-stars. Despite their rarity, they are for 5-star characters, which likely means these new skins will be paid and unobtainable for free.
Although the descriptions of the skins are extremely simple and do not delve too much into details, they do open up a lot of space for speculation, some of which may end up coming true. Even with the black elements, the fact that Ganyu and Shenhe’s skins have blue accents may indicate that they are paying tribute to two other Liyue characters: Guizhong and Streetward Rambler. The illustration of the human version of these adepti in the past was featured in Genshin Impact’s Lantern Rite Festival in 2023, where Cloud Retainer reminisced on the past and remembered her friends, including Guizhong, who died centuries ago.
This is where Ganyu’s alleged skin comes into place to give the leak more credibility. As seen in Guizhong’s official design, shared during the 2023 version of the Lantern Rite Festival, the former God of Dust also wore a traditional Chinese-inspired dress. Like the reports of Ganyu’s skin, Guizhong had a leg ring at the base of her right leg and also walked around barefoot, with no footwear….
