According to the latest data, the role-playing game The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be released before 2026, but before that, fans may get an official remake of one of the classic parts of the franchise. It seems that Bethesda, together with Virtuos Games studio, is working on an updated version of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
Information about the production of the remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was shared by a former developer from Virtuos Games. According to his LinkedIn profile, he and his team have been actively working on an updated version of the famous role-playing game for some time. The remake of Oblivion in the studio is being created under the codename “Altar” using the Unreal Engine 5 engine. However, it is not entirely clear whether this will be a complete overhaul of the original game or just a remaster, as the developer also mentioned working with the original project engine.
The European branch of Virtuos Games in Paris, which assists Black Shamrock studio, is responsible for creating the updated edition of the game. Bethesda itself oversees all stages of development and carefully monitors its quality, according to the leak. The release of the remake or remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is planned before 2025, that is, before the release of The Elder Scrolls 6.
Interestingly, similar information about the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 also leaked online. Several years ago, one of the former employees of Virtuos Games wrote on his profile about the creation of an updated version of MGS 3, but few believed him at the time.
