Phil Spencer’s Vision: Encouraging Gamers to Enjoy Starfield for Over a Decade.

During an interview with IGN, Phil Spencer, CEO of ‍Microsoft Gaming, shared some thoughts⁢ about the longevity of Starfield.

He compared Starfield to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which was released ⁢in 2011 on Xbox 360 but ‌still enjoys great support⁣ from Bethesda and the modding community. Speaking about modders, Spencer hinted that the new‌ Xbox exclusive will also feature ‌support for beloved mods. See:

I don’t ⁢want to disclose the team’s plans, but obviously if you’re⁤ Bethesda and ⁣you see the constant support that Skyrim gets, even today, if you look‍ at what modders have done, it influenced what Starfield should be.‍ The proof will be how people take the game, but we hope it’s another game that people will continue ⁣to enjoy⁣ a decade or more after release, and still derive pleasure from.

We already knew ‌that Starfield would be massive, and in anticipation of ⁣the game’s release, Bethesda has no‍ intentions⁤ of downplaying its scale. According to Bethesda’s publisher, Pete Hines, ‍the time he spent ‍playing Starfield has surpassed 200 hours, and he hasn’t even come close to finishing it.

In addition, earlier this summer, Todd Howard, the project’s creative director, ‍confirmed that ⁤Starfield will receive full ‍modding ‍support. According to him, the game will have tools for creating and installing mods similar to those used in previous Bethesda games, namely Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Starfield⁢ will be released on September 6, 2023, for PC and Xbox consoles. The game will also be available through the Xbox Game Pass program.
