Legendary actor Mark Margolis has passed away at the age of 83. He passed away yesterday at one of the New York hospitals after a brief illness.

Mark Margolis worked for decades, first appearing in films in the ⁣late 1970s. However, his most famous role came⁤ as the villain Hector ​Salamanca in⁣ the series “Breaking Bad” ​from 2009 to 2022.

For many years, he repeatedly appeared in⁣ Darren Aronofsky’s films, such as “The Wrestler,” “Requiem for a Dream,”⁢ “Black Swan.” However, it was one​ of his ​recent roles that became defining in his career: he played the patriarch Salamanca for 13 years.

It was no small feat. The role of Hector Salamanca was incredibly complex and required ‌remarkable versatility. Appearing ⁤on screen as an elderly person unable to walk or speak, Margolis, nevertheless, effortlessly portrayed Salamanca’s rage,⁣ cunning, and hatred towards his adversaries. As his character developed in flashbacks and the prequel “Better Call Saul,” Margolis had to play both a younger ⁣version of the character and the boss of a criminal organization immediately before a heart attack that left him unable to move.

But no matter ⁢the condition Salamanca was ⁤in, Margolis always elevated the show. These are some of the most iconic scenes in the “Breaking Bad” universe, whether it’s killing an old enemy or working alongside his ruthless⁣ nephew, ⁣Lalo Salamanca. ‌Margolis was nominated for an Emmy‌ award for his role as boss Salamanca.

The actor also lent his⁤ voice to one of the minor characters in Manhunt.
