Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang believes that the rapid advancement in processor speed and efficiency will significantly reduce the $7 trillion investment needed for OpenAI’s AI chip initiative. He emphasized that the increasing speed and efficiency of computers will lessen the total amount required for the initiative.
According to Huang, the global semiconductor market is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2023, with servers and AI driving the growth. However, he stated that Nvidia will have a $2 trillion install base by the end of the decade, indicating a significant expansion in the data center market.
Despite concerns about the energy and natural resources required for the AI industry, Huang highlighted Nvidia’s role in democratizing AI and its unique architecture that spans cloud, servers, and edge computing.
He also mentioned that Nvidia is developing “China-friendly” versions of its AI-ready GPUs to comply with export restrictions from the US government.
