No Leveling Up in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will not require players to complete side quests or random missions to level up, as this kind of progression has been removed. The game’s producers have made character development “tied to the story, rather than an experience scale.”

The game’s Artistic Director, Stefan Buddon, explained how Assassin’s Creed Mirage will differ from its three previous games (Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins), which used RPG systems.

The story of Mirage tells the story of Basim’s journey from an apprentice to a mentor, and this journey is reflected in the game’s system. There is no leveling up based on XP in the game, instead, progression is linear and based on the story. As you progress through the narrative and complete story quests, your rank in the Brotherhood increases, opening up new possibilities for gameplay, equipment upgrades, and inventory improvements.

While certain RPG elements will be present in the game, they will have a more modest nature. According to Buddon, players will be able to “upgrade items that are unlocked throughout the story, and when used to their maximum potential, they allow for the creation of new gameplay strategies.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on October 12th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
