One notable point is the desire to include mod support. Reinhard Pollice, the director and executive producer of Gothic Remake, expressed the studio’s awareness of the modding community and their intention to provide mod support.
However, the developers cannot make any promises due to the complexities of modding a game built on the Unreal Engine 5. This is primarily because Epic Games has certain limitations and rules regarding modding, particularly when it involves editing and creating levels.
Another reason for the decision to include mod support is Pollice’s personal experience with creating a modification for the original Gothic game two decades ago. The mod turned out to be larger than Skyrim, which made the developers realize the immense amount of work and resources required to complete it.
In terms of gameplay, the realism of the game will be enhanced through the movement of animals. Pollice used the example of scarabs migrating in search of water and food, which can lead to interesting situations when encountering other creatures.
It is worth mentioning that the English version of the game will feature entirely new voice actors. The developers aim to involve the original voice artists in the German dubbing whenever possible, but it is unclear how they will approach the Russian version.
Furthermore, the English version will incorporate various accents to reflect the different camps’ character, addressing concerns about an overabundance of the East London dialect (Cockney) in the latest trailer.
