Mirage of Assassin’s Creed: Details on Release Date, Characters, Story, and Gameplay

The release date for Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been set and, with it, many story details and gameplay elements have been officially revealed. The new game developed and published by Ubisoft marks a return to the franchise’s classic formula, straying away from the massive open-world RPG-like elements that have been present in the past few games, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. But the turning point in the franchise happened with Assassin’s Creed Origins, prior to Odyssey, when Ubisoft changes its traditional format.

Now, the company promises that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s gameplay will be a return to the franchise’s roots, offering stealth-based combat without the expansiveness of a vast open world and multiple RPG elements. This means that the game will be more akin to the likes of Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed 2, and most of the series’ titles before the overhaul of the core gameplay with Origins. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be something of a spin-off, with it being a shorter game that expands the lore on a pre-existing character that was introduced in Valhalla, called Basim Ibn Ishaq.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be sold in three distinct editions, all of which are priced differently due to the additional offerings they have on top of the base game itself. The first version of the game is the Standard Edition, which only offers the base game on the player’s platform of choice for $49.99. The game’s lower pricing in comparison to regular AAA games’ $69.99 is a reflection of its reduced size and duration.

There are also Deluxe and Collector’s Case editions of Assassin’s Creed Mirage for players to purchase. The first of which grants additional items and skins, alongside the artbook and soundtrack for $59.99. The Collector’s Case is a physical package for $149.99 that comes with a steelbook case, CD soundtrack, map and Basim figurine among its collectibles.

Regardless of the chosen edition, players who pre-order Assassin’s Creed Mirage will all get a special pre-order bonus. The perk is access to The Forty Thieves Quest. While few to no details have been shared about this specific mission, its naming suggests that it is likely connected to Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, a classic Arabian Nights folk tale. It is uncertain if players will be able to purchase the quest individually after the game is released, in case they do not pre-order it.
